Gallery: Cookies by Luann Pomeraning

Hi my name is Luann Pomeraning and I live in Chicago.  I have two grown children and four grandchildren.  I am very active in my church community and I love participating in craft fairs.  During the day I am employed as a food service manager in a grammar school.  The students and staff refer to me as the lunch lady. 

I hold a certificate in food safety and sanitation.  When I get home I really enjoy baking and decorating cookies.  It is truly my passion.  I love to create and let my imagination go wild.  I own the rights to the name “Baskets by Luann”.  I make gift baskets for all occasions containing home-made sweet quick breads, muffins, cookies, candy, and dipped pretzels.  I also make cookie favors for bridal and baby showers.  I love the feeling that I get when I make others happy from my efforts. 

Many of my baskets, have been used at silent auctions and raffles benefiting the poor in the greater Chicago area, the American Cancer Society, various school scholarship programs, and for the sexually and physically abused deaf children in my city.  It is a lot of fun shopping for different containers in which to put my homemade goodies. 

I have used things as simple as plastic milk crates to elegant Victorian suitcases and of-course baskets.  I hope to one day turn “Baskets by Luann” from a hobby into a successful business and become a savvy entrepreneur.
