...a fun theme! 
Ask all the guests to select a gift(s) appropriate for the time of day or night noted on their invitation. This take some organization, so be sure that there are no duplicate times, unless you have more than 24 guests.

Morning:

For example...
2:00am may find the mommy, daddy or both feeding the baby. Gift items might include a rocking chair, baby bottles, diapers, nightshirts, blankets, formula, etc.

Midnight may find the mommy, daddy or both wide awake because they can't sleep. Gift items might include a magazines, bubble bath, video, floor pillows, etc.
6:00am may find the mommy, daddy or both feeding the baby and trying to eat breakfast. Gift items might include bacon, eggs, formula, baby cereal, diapers, bib, baby bottle, rattle, baby dish, etc.
8:00pm may find the mommy and daddy relaxing (yea, right!). Gift items might include a books, magazines, candy, champagne or sparkling cider, television set, radio, videos, CD's, hassock, etc.
