In Advance:

On waxed paper, use Royal Icing pipe tip 16 zigzag
upper door, measuring 1-3/4 inches by 1-1/2 inches.
Cover this area with tip 16 in red stars and
tip 17 diagonal line in white.
Let dry.
Peel off door and attach in perpendicular fashion
to two lollipop sticks with Royal Icing and set aside.

Bake and cool House cake (barn)

Bake and cool 3 cupcakes (haystacks)

With a spatula, ice front of barn smooth with red.
Mark 2 inches by 3 inches for a door and ice upper half black.
Mark 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/4 inches for a window and ice it black.
Pipe tip 17 white lines and tip 3 black lines.
Pipe tip 2B band roof.
Cover barn and lower door with tip 16 stars.
Edge lower barn door and pipe criss-cross with tip 17 white lines.
Insert the barn door made from Royal Icing and
lollipop sticks into the cake so it is opened.

Upper barn window, Pipe tip 3 pull-out string hay
using Golden Yellow/Lemon Yellow combinations.

Cut 13 x 19 inch to a thickness desired (and ability to move the cake without
the cardboard bending) and cover with aluminum foil.
Position the barn on the cardboard and ice around
it in Brown/Ivory combination in Royal Icing.
Optional: Add writing using tip 2 for your message.

Turn cupcakes (haystacks) upside down and place on waxed paper.
Using Golden Yellow/Lemon Yellow combination in buttercream frosting and cover
the cupcakes with tip 233 pull-out string to form the hay.

To make the fence, use waxed paper and attach pretzel sticks
together with Royal Icing acting as glue.

Arrange haystacks on the cardboard. Attach fence to cake sides
and base with Royal Icing. Attach farm animals desired onto the barn and
the cardboard base -- attach with Royal Icing.

Toast coconut (spread coconut on a cookie sheet and place in 300 degree
pre-heated oven for about 20 minutes -- watch carefully to prevent burning.
Cool the coconut, then spread around on the board to look like hay.

Barn cake serves 12
