Using the above cake photos, create pattern templates for:
Face Mask, Helmet, Football Stripes and Laces, Players' Face, Mouth and Nose
using tracing paper, waxed paper or similar material.

 

Ingredients:
Meringue Powder
Your Favorite Buttercream Icing Recipe
Your Favorite Royal Icing Recipe


Using royal icing and pattern, make face mask.
Outline sections using decorating tip 12; let dry.
Assemble sections using dots of icing.
Let dry completely.

Tint White Fondant or purchase Already Tinted Fondant:
1 package copper, 1/2 package blue, 1/4 package black, reserve 1/4 package white.

Following package directions, make, bake and cool one 1-layer round cake and one football-shaped cake.
Cover the round cake in copper fondant.
Cover football cake in chocolate fondant.
Using patterns, cut helmet and stripe, mouth, football stripes and laces out of fondant.
Cut fondant circles with wide end of tips: two of each tip 2A (white) and tip 3 (black) for eyes.
Mold hands, nose and eyebrows.
Attach all fondant pieces to cake using dots of buttercream icing.
Cut hole in fondant and position face mask into cake.
Add tip 3 message.
