Valentines Day Tea Party

Why wait till February to have a fun, inexpensive party to share love, love, love all year round!

Invitations:
Make your own with red and pink construction paper and white lace paper doilies.

Decorations:
Use a small tree (branch type used for Easter and other holidays) and decorate with small hearts tied to limbs with ribbon.

On the back side of each heart, write the type of heart it represents from the below list:

Rough heart - sandpaper
Broken heart - torn or cracked
Warm heart - made from flannel or felt
Heavy heart - made from wood or metal
Light heart - covered with feathers
Cold heart - Painted and sprinkled with white glitter
Sweetheart - made of candy
Sour heart - color of lemon
Stingy heart - thin
Generous heart - fat and plump
Sad heart - blue
Jealous heart - green

These can be used as part of a game.
Blindfold a person and let them pick to see what type of heart they have.

Decorations:
Colors for party - red, pink and white
Lots of balloons, crepe paper and hearts.
Heart-shaped balloons would be wonderful.

Cake

Use this pattern to make a heart shaped cake or bake a cake in a Heart-Shaped cake pan and decorate with pink, red and white icing, add heart candies. On unfrosted cakes, lay a heart-shaped paper doily on top and sprinkle with white powdered sugar -- gently/carefully lift doily so as not to smudge the lacey design.

Food:
Use heart-shaped cookie cutter to make sandwiches and cookies. Let the kids decorate their own cookies with EDIBLE marking pens -- http://www.thepartyworks.com/ediblemarkers.htm

Goodie Bags:
Use Red or pink bags and decorate with heart drawings or stickers. Fill with conversation hearts, heart pencils, heart shaped items, etc.
